Ginkgo is the revival of a heritage-listed apartment in Kenilworth, Cape Town, currently awaiting planning & heritage approval.
An early inhabitant of this apartment complex fell in love with the Ginkgo’s deep saffron yellow autumn foliage whilst on a trip to Japan. She brought back four specimens to plant in the gardens, and we are lucky enough to look out onto the one that survived. This apartment complex is a prime example of the Art Deco style and its place in the 1930s urban development of Kenilworth. Any work on a heritage building needs to start with an in-depth survey of the existing. Thereafter we work diligently to ensure that the space's original character is enhanced whilst providing for a modern lifestyle.
We will keep you posted as Joubert Malherbe takes this project from the drawing board to completion.
