Oude Leeskamer is an art & literature archive, exhibition space, restaurant and office for the Jannie Mouton Foundation in Stellenbosch, completed in 2021.

Gideon Malherbe worked on this project while employed by Malherbe Rust Architects, at first as a Candidate Architect and later as a Professional Architect.  Gideon’s role was that of project architect, and he was responsible for the design development, technical detailing and partial construction oversight of the project alongside the project manager.  This project was a great opportunity in honing his approach to contemporary work within a historic context.
